Lonnie Smith
Lonnie Smith is a Senior Associate on the First Water team, responsible for AI enablement initiatives and FP&A support for partner companies, including reporting/BI and forecasting initiatives. He brings 15+ years of experience as an operations/technology professional and an entrepreneur, having co-founded and exited a tech services company in the energy sector.
Prior to joining First Water, Lonnie held operational leadership roles spanning CEO, COO, CTO, and CFO functions, and served at Schlumberger managing large-scale operations, supply chains, and global teams in the energy sector. He holds a US patent (PCT/US24/51866) for a proprietary AI method and recently led a research project through the Wharton Mack Institute focused on deploying agentic AI workflows for growth private equity.
Lonnie is currently pursuing his MBA at The Wharton School, and resides in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
